Maria Olga Valenzuela Camacho, (Auntie Olga), age 98, passed away peacefully on April, 27, 2018 at Casa de La Luz in Tucson, Arizona. She was born in 1919 to Frank Bartlett Valenzuela and Juanita Maldonado Valenzuela in Amado, AZ. Over the years Olga mentioned her birth year as 1919-1922, empathizing the old adage; a true lady never tells her age. June 16, 1919, the Valenzuela’s moved to the “new house” where the Amado post office/grocery was located (currently Luna’s Auto Shop). In May of 1923, Olga and her family moved to Tucson.

She went to Safford Junior High and then graduated from Tucson High School in 1938. She was part of the Girls Athletic Association and known to be a rough and tumble type of girl. According to Lina her sister, Olga would follow her older brother, Frank everywhere climbing trees or riding bikes. When Lina and Frank had children, she became Auntie Olga. Olga doted on her nieces and nephews, never passing by a matching outfit opportunity or spoiling them with gifts.  She worked throughout her life in sales and retired from American National Insurance in late 1980s. Olga married the love of her life, Lawrence Camacho in 1994 after life events brought them back together. She enjoyed dancing, traveling and catching up with her many friends and family.

Preceding her in death are her husband, her parents, her sister Evangeline Proctor, her brother Frank Valenzuela and her nephew Henry Proctor. She is survived by nephews LeRoy Proctor (Carole), and Frank Flores, nieces Enedina (Dina) Gomez (Rudy), and Evangelina  Perez (Ruben), and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loyal and loving caretakers, Celia Pesqueira Quijada, Marta Pesqueira Diaz and Luz Quijada Acuna. Visitation and rosary will be at Bring’s Funeral Home, Monday, April 30 at 6PM with rosary at 7PM.  Mass will be Tuesday, May 1 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church at 11AM followed by burial at Holy Hope Cemetery.
