George Edgar Proctor (1848-1918)

gep_kidsGeorge Edgar Proctor was born in 1848 in Nashua, NH to George William Proctor III and Elvira E. Cooper. His mother died about a month after he was born. GEP moved to California with his family in 1858. GEP was a blacksmith and ran his father’s shop.

He married Anna S. Simmons in 1881 in San Miguel, CA. They had two children; Hattie May in 1883 and George Bartlett in 1888. GEP and his family resided on a ranch two miles outside of San Miguel, CA. In April of 1890 he received a U.S. Land patent. In 1897 he received a California land patent.

George Edgar Proctor died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Oakland, CA in December of 1918. He is buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Hayward, CA.
